Tuesday night will feature an "excellent visible pass" of the International Space Station

One of the best places to view an upcoming passing of the International Space Station on August 16th is the Spokane area starting at 9:27 p.m. A 11 minute viewing will begin in the southwest area of the sky as it travels north of the city to the northeast.

Real time satellite trackings define this as an excellent visible pass. Its maximum altitude at 9:32 p.m., reaches a magnitude (measurement of brightness) of -2.5. If you're not sure how bright that is, -2.5 is also the minimum brightness of a new moon.

Council District 1 has the fewest amount of returned ballots in Spokane

Council District 2 has the highest return of ballots in the entire City of Spokane according to the latest data released by Spokane County Elections. 21% of voters from the district have turned them in compared to the 18% in District 3 and the 16% in District 1. However in the situation of District 2 and 3, the primary doesn't matter.

Fire District 9 Hosts Open House

Saturday, August 13th is a chance for your kids to see real firefighters at work.

Fire District 9 Station 95 is opening its doors for visitors between 10 am and 3pm.

Kids (and adults) can come see Smokey Bear, fire trucks, MedStar and enjoy hot dogs.

The station is at 3028 West Strong.

If you are looking for something to do Saturday, August 13th, why not join the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the nonprofit that grants wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions, for its 3rd annual Walk for Wishes! Walkers of all fitness levels and ages are welcome to attend this family-friendly event that will have snacks and beverages, children's entertainment and prizes for the top individual fundraiser and the top fundraising team.

Serve Spokane offering back packs filled with school supplies and shoes for children

Low-income families of east Spokane will able to receive the school supplies they need when they're children head back to school. Serve Spokane is hosting a shoe and school supply give away on Saturday, August 13th at Rochester Heights Park. They'll be giving away back packs filled with school supplies for more than 200 children as well as new or gently used shoes of various sizes and hoodies. It's a first come, first serve give away for children accompanied by an adult. They are also offering haircuts for children, but hair must be freshly washed.

Brighton Beach Memoirs is a coming-of-age semi-autobiographic comedy written by Neil Simon.  The setting of the play is in Brooklyn, New York around 1937.  The main character of the play is Eugene Morris Jereome, a Polish-Jewish American teenager growing up in a crowded, lower income family.  Come join the brand new theatre company in Coeur d'Alene which is a partnership between the CDA High School and CDA Charter Academy Drama Departments.  This is a professional quality show with both adult and students actors.  The play is performed at CDA High School locate
