SNAP hit by website, phone outage | News

Monday morning SNAP opened for energy assistance appointments but there was a big problem. So many people logged on to their website the site crashed.

Then, adding insult to injury, cell phone towers also went offline.

SNAP has 6,500 appointments to fill but with no website and limited phone lines the employees inside were sent scrambling.

Despite having no website and limited phone lines, SNAP still managed to schedule 1,000 appointments by 11 a.m.

To make an appointment, try using a landline; if you can't wait until Tuesday they are confident their website -- snapwa.org -- will be back up and running soon.

The most important thing to remember when you're signing up online is to get a verification number. If you don't you haven't been scheduled so log on and try again.
